How to keep a note visible while you work
- Open FloatBoard. Download the installer for your operating system, launch the app and position the floating board near your current task.
- Add your reference. Copy a passage from a document and paste it into the board, or add an image you need to refer to.
- Keep the board on top. Use the always-on-top setting and return to your other app. Your reference stays visible without bringing a separate notes window forward each time.
- Refresh your workspace. Replace the reference when you change tasks. Keep only the notes you need for the work in front of you.
Example: take research notes beside a draft
You are writing a report and need to refer to a short quotation, its source link and a reference image. Paste the text and link into FloatBoard, then add the image. Move the board to the side of your document so it does not cover the paragraph you are writing.
When you switch between your browser and the draft, the floating board keeps those references in view. This also works for meeting talking points, a translation beside its original text, or instructions you want to follow in another app.
A sticky notes alternative for text and images
If you use desktop sticky notes to keep a reminder nearby, FloatBoard offers a workspace for reference text and images together. Its always-on-top window is useful when your notes would otherwise disappear behind your active application.
